October 27 - Graceland Guesthouse Opened

The new Guesthouse at Graceland 450-room hotel opend on October 27, right next door to Elvis Presley’s Graceland home. Jack Soden, Priscilla Presley and Joel Weinshanker welcome guests to The Guest House at Graceland.

The hotel reportedly cost $92 million to build and will be one of the largest hotels in Memphis. The hotel promises a 4-diamond experience and includes a 464-seat theater, 17,000 square feet of meeting space, 2 full-service restaurants with indoor/outdoor seating and a large outdoor pool.

There are 430 standard rooms plus 20 VIP suites – many located on the top floor of the hotel called the “The Upstairs”, reminiscent of the upstairs at Graceland where Elvis’ private bedroom is. There are 4 types of themed suites in the hotel which were all designed by Priscilla Presley including The King’s Suites, Vernon and Gladys’ Suites, TCB Suites, and Living Room Suites.

“When Elvis had friends and family visit Graceland, he would have them stay at a hotel down the street. He would have been thrilled to have had his own guest house where they could stay so close by,” Priscilla revealed.

In the Spring of 2017, a new entertainment complex called “Elvis: Past, Present and Future” will open across the street from Graceland to replace the current visitor center. This $45 million facility will include even more exhibit space, restaurants and shops and will be 5 times the size of the current visitor center.
